Though not our primary focus, livestock have an important role on our farm as a tool to sustainably manage our pasture, as fertility providers (free manure!), and as a protein source for our family and customers. Our sheep are raised for meat, but we are striving to utilize all that these fun animals offer. Our hides come exclusively from animals raised here on the farm that have been processed for meat. Hides are threshed and salted at our farm, then sent to Driftless Tannery- a women-run operation in Wisconsin that uses natural processes to tan hides instead of the harsh chemicals that are prevalent in much commercial hide tanning.
